J.P. Dick’s crew has just arrived in Lorient on Tuesday 22nd June, and has beaten the record set last year with a time of 7 days 14 hours 43 minutes and 43 seconds!

Following a successful first edition in 2020, Route Saint-Pierre & Miquelon and Pure Ocean will organize the second edition of the Route Saint-Pierre Lorient – Pure Ocean Challenge in 2021. The starting line will be open from June 13-27.
The Route Saint-Pierre Lorient – Pure Ocean Challenge is a sailing challenge across the Atlantic, between Saint-Pierre & Miquelon and Lorient, open to all types of sailboats and any floating support driven by the wind, with several goals:
- beat the reference times
- raise public awareness about the ocean and the need to protect it
- collect useful data for scientific studies for the protection of the ocean
- raise funds for ocean research
The vocation is to be an “other” race, focused on the urgency to save the ocean and on the means to achieve it.

2021 EDITION
The Route Saint-Pierre Lorient – Pure Ocean Challenge is a sailing challenge across the Atlantic, between Saint-Pierre & Miquelon and Lorient, open to all types of sailboats and any floating support driven by the wind, with several goals:
- beat Eric Tabarly’s 1987 reference time
- beat the reference times set during the previous edition in 2020
- raise public awareness of the ocean and the need to protect it
- collect data useful for scientific studies for the protection of the ocean
- raise funds for ocean research
- to position the archipelago of Saint Pierre & Miquelon as an ocean racing destination
- to develop a sustainable nautical link between Lorient and Saint Pierre & Miquelon
