The ocean is essential to our survival. The lungs of the planet, it produces 50% of the oxygen we breathe! Its role is essential, and our health depends on it. The environmental emergency we are facing alerts us to the need to preserve our planet, and in particular the oceans, which make up 70% of the Earth’s surface. At once shaping the planet, making life possible, regulating the climate, and having many other functions, it is still little studied, with 90% of marine species still unknown.

Of the seven major UNESCO themes we offer resources for learning more about the planet. We take up these themes here to share information, recommend films, documentaries and articles to educate your children and learn more about this mysterious ocean yourself.
