Victory for our planet! The European Parliament has just passed the Nature Restoration Act!
A crucial step towards preserving our marine and terrestrial ecosystems: the new law sets the objective of restoring at least 20% of the EU’s land and sea areas by 2030, and all the ecosystems in need by 2050. Indeed, 80% of European habitats are in poor condition. That’s why, in June 2022, the European Commission proposed a law to restore nature in the EU’s land and sea areas, thereby meeting Europe’s climate and biodiversity objectives, as well as international commitments such as the Kunming-Montreal Biodiversity Accord. Restoring natural areas means ensuring a habitat for our biodiversity, which is currently in danger. An essential response to the environmental challenges we face.
